ZATCA e-invoice checker
Decode the QR code on a Saudi e-invoice and see whether it agrees with the invoice.
Every Saudi e-invoice carries a QR code holding the seller's name, VAT number, time of issue, total and VAT, and in Phase 2 also a hash and ZATCA's cryptographic stamp. MarqPDF decodes it from the PDF or a photo, compares it with what the invoice prints, and checks the VAT number (15 digits, starting and ending with 3) and the 15% VAT.
The QR code against the invoice
The VAT number, total and VAT inside the code must be the ones printed on the invoice. A code copied from another invoice, or left over from an old template, shows up as a mismatch.
Phase 1 or Phase 2
A code with only the five basic fields is Phase 1; Phase 2 codes add the invoice hash, the signature and the public key. MarqPDF tells you which kind you have; it doesn't validate the cryptographic signature itself.
Simplified or standard
A simplified tax invoice, for consumers, needs no buyer VAT number; a standard tax invoice, between businesses, does, and MarqPDF flags one without it.
Frequently asked questions
Does it verify the invoice with ZATCA?
No. It checks the QR code's contents against the invoice. ZATCA's own app verifies Phase 2 signatures.
Which files work?
PDF invoices and photos of printed invoices, as long as the QR code is sharp.
Is it free?
Checking is free and the report shows on screen. Downloading the spreadsheet needs a free account, which includes 2 exports; after that, a Week Pass ($6.99) or Pro ($14.99 a month), see pricing.
